What Happens During a Fiber Broadband Installation
From the availability check to the first speed test — a step-by-step look at how a fiber connection is installed in your home, and how to prepare.

Getting a new fiber connection is simpler than most people expect. Knowing the steps in advance helps you plan the day and avoid delays.
Step 1: Availability check
Once you share your address and PIN code, the team checks whether fiber is already live in your building or street. In many apartment complexes the network reaches each floor, so only a short drop to your flat is needed.
Step 2: Choosing the plan
You pick speed, plan type (internet only, with OTT apps or with TV) and a duration. Longer durations lower the monthly equivalent price. Payment confirms the booking and an installation slot.
Step 3: The installation visit
An engineer routes a thin fiber cable from the nearest distribution point to your home, usually along existing ducts or neatly clipped to walls. Inside, the fiber ends in a small termination box or directly at the ONT (optical network terminal). The Wi-Fi router connects to it.
Most installations take one to two hours.
Step 4: Configuration and testing
The engineer activates your account, sets your Wi-Fi name and password, and runs a speed test on a wired connection and on Wi-Fi. This is a good time to ask about router placement and connecting your smart TV.
How to prepare
- Decide where you want the router — ideally a central, raised spot with a power socket.
- Get building or society permission if cabling must pass through common areas.
- Keep your ID handy for verification.
After installation
OTT apps, if included, are activated on your registered mobile number. Save the support email and your account ID somewhere easy to find.
The bottom line
A little planning — especially choosing the router location — makes installation day smooth and gives you better Wi-Fi from the very first hour.
