The Ultimate Work-From-Home Internet Checklist
A reliable home office needs more than a fast plan. Use this checklist to make video calls, VPNs and cloud tools work smoothly.

Remote and hybrid work are now a permanent part of Indian working life. If your income depends on your home connection, it deserves the same attention you would give your laptop. Use this checklist to build a home office that holds up on your busiest day.
1. Choose the right plan
Pick fiber with strong upload speeds and no FUP cap. One remote worker can manage on 50 Mbps, but two people working plus a family streaming in the evening are far more comfortable on 100 Mbps or more. Truly unlimited data means large file syncs never eat into a monthly allowance.
2. Wire your work desk
An Ethernet cable from the router to your laptop removes Wi-Fi interference, walls and distance from the equation. It is the single most effective step for stable video calls. Flat cables can run neatly along skirting boards.
3. Strengthen Wi-Fi in your work room
If cabling is not possible, add a mesh node near your desk so you are never at the edge of coverage. Use the 5 GHz band for your laptop.
4. Plan for outages
Keep a backup: a 4G/5G failover router that switches automatically, or at least enough mobile data to join critical calls from a hotspot.
5. Protect against power cuts
A small UPS for the router and fiber terminal keeps the internet running through brief outages common in many cities. Keep your laptop charged before important meetings.
6. Keep the network quiet during calls
Schedule cloud backups, game downloads and large uploads outside working hours. Ask family members to avoid heavy uploads during important calls.
7. Cover security basics
Update the router firmware, use a long Wi-Fi password with WPA2 or WPA3 and keep work devices on a separate network from smart gadgets and guests.
8. Know who to call
Save your provider's support email and your account ID somewhere you can find them without internet.
The bottom line
A wired desk, strong Wi-Fi, backup power and a backup link make your home office as dependable as any corporate one. WFH Essentials bundles these pieces so you can focus on work, not your connection.
