Setting Up Your Purple MAX Living Room
TV box, smart TV, router and landline — a practical layout for getting the most from your Purple MAX connection.

Purple MAX brings several devices into your living room: a Wi-Fi router, an IPTV set-top box, possibly a smart TV with apps and a landline phone. A little planning keeps the setup tidy, reliable and easy for everyone to use.
Choose the router location first
The router serves the whole home, not just the TV. Place it in a central, raised, open spot near the TV area — on a shelf or wall mount rather than inside a closed cabinet. This gives strong Wi-Fi in bedrooms while keeping cable runs to the TV short.
Wire the TV devices
Connect the IPTV set-top box to the router with an Ethernet cable. If you also stream on a smart TV or streaming stick, wire that too if possible. A small network switch adds ports if the router runs out.
Connect the landline
The landline plugs into the voice port on the router. A cordless phone lets elders take calls from any room without walking to the living room.
Tidy cables
Use cable clips, a cable tray behind the TV unit or a spiral wrap to bundle cables. Label each cable at both ends — "TV box", "TV", "phone" — so troubleshooting later is easy.
Use HDMI-CEC to reduce remotes
Many TVs support HDMI-CEC, which lets the TV remote control basic functions of the set-top box. Enable it in the TV settings to reduce remote confusion for elders.
Power protection
Connect the router, fiber terminal and set-top box to a surge protector. A small UPS keeps internet and the landline working during short power cuts.
Create a "how to" card
A simple printed card next to the TV — which input to use for live TV, which button opens apps and who to call for help — makes life easier for elders and guests.
The bottom line
A central router, wired TV devices, tidy cables and a few thoughtful touches make Purple MAX reliable and easy for every family member to use.
