Hostel Intercoms on IP
Wardens, security and students need quick communication. IP intercoms make it easy.

Hostels need fast, reliable internal communication. Wardens coordinate with security, the mess and maintenance teams; students need to reach the warden's office or medical room; and gate staff need to confirm visitors. Old analog intercoms are often broken, limited and impossible to extend.
IP intercoms explained
IP intercoms and phones connect to the campus data network. Each room, office or gate can have an extension that dials any other extension on campus, including staff mobiles through softphone apps.
Gate and visitor management
Video intercoms at hostel gates let security staff speak with visitors and contact wardens or students before allowing entry. Calls can be logged for accountability.
Emergency calling
Dedicated emergency buttons or speed-dial codes can ring the warden, security control room and medical staff simultaneously. Calls can never be "engaged" because they ring a group.
Room extensions
Some institutions provide room phones so wardens can reach students and parents can be connected through the hostel office. Calls can be restricted to internal extensions to control costs.
Paging and announcements
IP systems can broadcast announcements to hostel corridors, common rooms or the whole campus — useful for roll calls, mess timings and emergencies.
Easy to expand
Adding a new hostel block means adding switches and phones, not running new copper lines back to an exchange.
Reliability
Power intercoms through PoE switches on UPS so they keep working during power cuts, and place the network equipment securely.
The bottom line
